ABOUT EASTSIDE K-9 PET LODGE

Peggy

Peggy has always had a great admiration for animals. She graduated from National K-9 School for Dog Trainers as a certified professional trainer in 1995. She then went on to be certified scent detection and also holds a certificate in canine behavior. Although she no longer trains dogs, her dedication to animals has never diminished.

She became an approved humane investigator to help improve the living conditions of animals and quality of care they received. In doing so, she has worked with many shelters and rescues in and out of the area. She retired from 10 years with LaSalle County Animal Response Team – (LasCart).

She is now the proud keeper of Lazarus and Molly, her two Bourbon Red turkeys, eight hens and their rooster named Elmer, P.B. and Ling Ling which are very loveable Pygmy Goats and Bella, a mini horse.

Along with the rest of her family live her four canine companions, Eli, Otis, Sadie, and Bear Bear, who are constantly at her side. Eastside K-9 Pet Lodge is a place she is very comfortable with and enjoys. After all, it’s not like having a real job if you love what you do!

Lucinda

Born and raised in Streator, IL, Lucinda has always enjoyed the laid back nature of small-town life. For over 30 years she has had the pleasure of sharing her life with dogs of her own - Damien, Bubba, Belle, Brandy, Tuffy, and Tanner to name a few. Most of these dogs were rescues through Eastside K-9 Pet Lodge. She also has a cat named Scruffy who lives at the lodge. You can usually find Scruffy relaxing on the counter or curled up in one of the kennels with a dog of her choice. She seems to know which ones will tolerate her company.

When Lucinda was asked to become a part of Eastside K-9 Pet Lodge, she was not aware of how enjoyable life would be working with all of our lodgers. She has come such a long way since then.

Her knowledge and understanding of their needs and care have greatly expanded. Her days are filled with barking, howling, purring, meowing, with everybody vying for attention at the same time. She loves talking to our lodgers, especially when they cock their heads as if trying so hard to understand what she is saying and for a special few there is a little singing. One can’t help but appreciate the unconditional love they give while asking so little in return.

In previous years, she has volunteered at a local shelter and was also an approved humane investigator. Reach out to us today to learn more about us!
